Battledeck SXSW Sydney

Before we had a chance to catch our breath from PAX23 in Melbourne, we found ourselves in Sydney at Australia’s inaugural South by Southwest festival the following weekend.

SXSW Sydney nominated Battledeck for Best Tabletop Game, and we attended the awards ceremony at the incredible Fortress. The Aethermon team pipped us but the nomination itself – and the digital laurels that came with it – is a massive achievement.

Battledeck was showcased in its very own booth at the Mercure Hotel, amongst hundreds of other digital and tabletop games on display. We sold a literal tower of copies of the game, donated a few to charity, and made some connections with some of Australia’s biggest toy and game companies.

Now back in Kiama, thinking back to the last few weeks fills me with wonder, if not bewilderment, at how far things have come. Where do we go from here?
