As I spent time illustrating the ghouls I began to imagine what kind of characters they were and what kind of world they might live in. Was their world a cube? Did the tribes get along or were they at war? The more ghouls I drew the clearer the picture became.

I approached Roby Guida, a voxel artist alternately based in Argentina and Spain, to bring the 18 different biomes to life, showing some hints of the tribes that lived in them and how they interact with their environments.

This diorama depicts the North, an icy biome protected by the Sea of Ghoul’s fierce winter tides. It’s the last known location of the ghoul Franky, and rumour has it there’s a tribe working on a tunnel to the planet’s core.
